IGNOU BA(Hons) Sociology Syllabus

Here we are trying our best so every student can understand very clear.

  • IGNOU BASOH is a UG course and the duration of the course is a minimum of 3 years.
  • You need to clear your BASOH course within a maximum of 6 years of time from the date of admission.
  • BA Sociology is based on CBCS System (Choice-based credit system) and students need to get a minimum of total 148 credits to get a BA sociology degree.
  • In BA Sociology students will study a total of 26 subjects in 6 semesters.
  • All 26 subjects in BA sociology combination of 5 categories in the credit system as follows:-
    • 14 (CC) core courses of 6 credits each.
    • 4 (DSE) Discipline Specific Elective courses of 6 credits each.
    • 4 (GE) Generic Elective Subjects of 6 credits each.
    • 2 (AECC) Ability enhancing compulsory courses of 4 credits each.
    • 2 (SEC) skill enhancement courses of 4 credits each.

IGNOU BASOH Study Material

  • In the first semester, students will study 4 courses. 2 from CC courses, 1 from the AECC course, and 1 from GE course that makes students 22 credits in the first semester.
  • In the second semester, students will study 4 courses. 2 from CC courses, 1 from GE course, and 1 from the AECC course. In the AECC category two-course available in which students need to choose one course and all 4 courses make students 22 credits in their second semester.
  • In the third semester, students will study 5 courses. 3 from CC courses, 1 from SEC course, and 1 from GE course that makes students 28 credits in his third semester.
  • In the fourth semester, students will study 5 courses. 3 from CC courses, 1 from SEC course, and 1 from GE course that makes students 28 credits in his fourth semester.
  • In the fifth semester, students will study 4 courses. 2 from CC courses and 2 from the DSE course that makes students 24 credits in the fifth semester.
  • In the sixth and final semester, students will study 4 courses. 2 from CC courses and 2 from the DSE course that makes students 24 credits in their final semester.
